Fall Core Aeration | Winkler's Lawn Service Local Contractor

Winkler's Tree and Lawn services offers soil aeration to commercial and residential clients local to Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs.

Dense and compacted soil will negatively impact oxygen flow through your soil. Thatching can provide similar negative impacts to your lawn's turf. What is thatch? Thatch is small pieces of grass that die over time and gather just above the soil creating a mat of dead turf. Soil compaction and thatch are two of your lawn’s worst enemies because they prevent soil, water and nutrients from reaching the roots. Aeration of your lawn is performed to allow oxygen and nutrients to efficiently reach your plants roots. The harder your grass, plants or tree roots must work to achieve oxygen and nutrients, the less energy it has to grow and prosper. When we aerify, we loosen the soil by giving the grass roots “breathing room".

Did you know that the use of heavy equipment on a tree's critical root zone can damage your tree? When heavy equipment such as Bob Cats or other equipment travels over the top of a trees roots and/or adding soil on top of a tree's critical root zone could be equally impactful as cutting a trees roots. As it can compact the soil which can suffocate your tree's roots. With in 2-3 years of such impacts you will notice dye back of your tree's crown. Soil aeration is also used to breath life back into your tree's roots!
